{"id":11259,"date":"2021-07-27T08:53:49","date_gmt":"2021-07-27T14:53:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.topspot.com\/blog\/?p=11259"},"modified":"2021-07-27T12:34:00","modified_gmt":"2021-07-27T18:34:00","slug":"more-transparency-for-search-results-on-google","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.topspotims.com\/blog\/2021\/07\/more-transparency-for-search-results-on-google\/","title":{"rendered":"More Transparency for Search Results on Google"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Google is giving users some&nbsp;insight&nbsp;into understanding why certain search results&nbsp;show up&nbsp;for their search queries.&nbsp;As part of their recently launched&nbsp;\u201cAbout This Result\u201d&nbsp;box, more details are being given as to what made that search result show up.&nbsp;This feature was intended as a way for users to understand why they are receiving certain search results, but it\u2019s also a great tool for our&nbsp;Clients&nbsp;to understand more the search landscape and how they can improve their organic rankings.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-about-this-result-box\">The \u201cAbout This Result\u201d Box&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In February,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/products\/search\/about-search-results\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Google launched<\/a>&nbsp;the&nbsp;\u201cAbout This Result\u201d&nbsp;box in the search landscape. This gives the user some&nbsp;information about the reliability of the site.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/products\/search\/learn-more-and-get-more-from-search\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Starting this week<\/a>, new information is being provided in the box, including:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Search terms found in the content of the result <\/li><li>Related phrases used in the content&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Whether other sites link to this result&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Regional relevance&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Image information<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-does-this-impact-you\">How Does This Impact You?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Any glimpse into the inner workings of Google rankings is helpful.&nbsp;While Google won\u2019t disclose the weighted impact of each of these ranking factors, this is the first time that the search engine giant has disclosed such details as to why specific sites are ranking for said search terms. This new feature will give additional competitive perspectives to what other sites are doing and why they are ranking.&nbsp;With the potential data to be included in the new feature, we can use these signals as a bulletproof checklist to keep our website content in line and more relevant, thus providing the most relevant content as it relates to the user\u2019s search: have we included this specific language? Are there additional variations to include? How can we go about earning a similar backlink or getting listed on that site? Do we have a link from that site?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is also a great example of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.topspot.com\/blog\/2021\/07\/why-are-backlinks-important\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">why backlinks are important<\/a>. You can see in the box&nbsp;when other sites are linking to that page.
